About Us

Loaded Dice was formerly known as Run of the Mill Dublin, which was founded in 2007 by Charlotte Tiernan. When it was founded its aim was to create quality theatre by and for people with intellectual disability in the Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown area.

In 2016, with some brand new members, the company expanded and Lorna Kennedy joined forces with Charlotte to become Creative Directors of the newly formed Loaded Dice Theatre Company. There are currently over 30 actors in the theatre company, each of whom has an intellectual disability. The group is filled with a unique cohort of vibrant individuals whose talents and interests are endless.

We believe that:

  • Creating a respectful, non-judgemental, positive & creative environment is fundamental to creativity and empowering individuals.
  • Each actor brings with them a wealth of life experience, and the theatre we make should give people with intellectual disability a voice.
  • Affording people with intellectual disability the opportunity to be seen on stage in a positive light will result in a more inclusive society and an enriched community.
  • Having fun is an integral part of the creative process.

Our Mission Statement

Our vision for the future is to:

  • To create quality theatre and become a professional theatre company that offers greater opportunities to actors and audiences in the Dun Laoghaire area.
  • To broaden our reach and provide drama workshops in which participants can take part at the level that they wish to.
  • To develop existing links and create new links with other theatre companies, theatres and local groups.
  • To open the company up to people without intellectual disabilities; local community members, students and professional and amateur actors.
